Frictional resistance on the contact of ash-slag mixture and geotextile

Abstract: The paper presents results of the shear strength tests carried out on the ash-slag mixture from Skawina Power Plant as well as the results of interphase frictional resistance tests on the contact of the mixture and nonwoven geotextile Secutex GRK 401-5C. Tests were performed at three values of compaction indexes, such as IS = 0.90, 0.95 and 1.00 and at the moisture content close to optimal. There were high values of the angle of internal friction and cohesion of the ash-slag mixture and the interfacial friction angle and adhesion on the contact of the mixture and nonwoven geotextile, which distinctly depended on the compaction. This confirms the usability of the mixture for earthworks purposes as a separate material as well as in the system with nonwoven geotextiles.
